§ Mr. MONTAGUThe increase in cost is from £2,891,884 in 1905–6 to £4,265,700 estimated for 1910–11. It is impossible, without very laborious research, to answer accurately the latter part of my hon. Friend's question, but the proposals of the Government of India contemplated expenditure in the proportion of six to one upon the Indian as compared with the English members of the force, and in the proportion of about seven to four on additional establishment as compared with existing establishment.
