HC Deb 14 July 1910 vol 19 c604
Captain FABER

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Agriculture if he will state whether, seeing that many worn-out horses are shipped from ports in Great Britain and Ireland to other ports in the United Kingdom and there transhipped to Continental steamers, he can include in the contemplated Bill regulations to prevent this traffic?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of AGRICULTURE (Sir Edward Strachey)

The President of the Board in another place proposes to put down some Amendments to the Bill to which the hon. and gallant Member refers, which, if adopted, will give the Board further powers to deal with the coastwise traffic.

Mr. MacVEAGH

Is the Secretary to the Board of Agriculture aware that the foreigners only keep these horses for a few days, and invariably return them in the form of sausages?
