HC Deb 14 July 1910 vol 19 c601
Captain FABER

asked the Postmaster-General if he will state whether Post Office motor vans are limited to any particular speed when passing houses in the country; and whether he has received any complaints from householders as to the excessive speed used?

Mr. HERBERT SAMUEL

The Post Office motor vans are subject to the usual legal limits of speed. On all the more important motor mail services, where the weight of the mails is considerable, the motor vans weigh more than two tons unladen and are "heavy motor cars" within the meaning of Article 7 of the Heavy Motor Car Order, 1904. The legal limit of speed for these vans is twelve miles an hour. Few complaints as to excessive speed have been received.
