HC Deb 12 July 1910 vol 19 c181
Sir RANDOLF BAKER

asked whether any increase had been made in the allowances to those lending motor cars or cycles to the War Office for military purposes, or to officers or non-commissioned officers who use them in the course of their duty, since the increased spirit and motor duties under the Finance Act of 1909–10 had taken effect?

Mr. HALDANE

The reply is in the negative. It must, however, be remembered that the officers concerned employ their private cars or cycles on the public service for short periods only.

Sir RANDOLF BAKER

Has the right hon. Gentleman considered the case of the non-commissioned officers who are serving with the Territorial Forces—such as sergeants-major of Yeomanry and sergeant-instructors of Volunteers, and the small allowances they are getting from the War Office for the use of their cycles?

Mr. HALDANE

All those questions have been considered.
