asked the President of the Board of Trade whether his attention has been called to the fatal accident to Miss Gladys Canham, who was caught by an express train whilst proceeding over the level crossing on the Midland Railway near Sawley Junction Station. Trent, on the 1st instant; if he can state the number of fatalities that have occurred at this crossing: and whether he proposes to take any action with regard to the matter?

I am in communication with the railway company with regard to this accident, and will inform my hon. Friend of the result. The Board of Trade have no record of any previous accident at the level crossing in question.
