HC Deb 12 July 1910 vol 19 c189
Mr. POINTER (for Mr. Snowden)

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will take steps to press upon the Great Central Railway Company the urgency of providing some satisfactory alternative to the dangerous level crossing at Carr Vale, Bolsover?

Mr. BUXTON

I am sending to my hon. Friend a copy of a letter which I have received from the railway company stating, in effect, that, they offered to move the existing footbridge from the east to the west end of Bolsover Station, where it could be used in place of the level crossing, and to remove the wicket gates at the crossing. To this proposal the local authority objected, and the company then suggested the construction of a subway, to which the company would contribute, but they have had no definite reply. The crossing is not one at which the Board have power to require the construction of a bridge or subway.
