HC Deb 11 July 1910 vol 19 c20
Mr. BOTTOMLEY

asked the Prime Minister whether the Government will consider the propriety of either rebuilding Buckingham Palace or otherwise providing a suitable Royal residence?

The FIRST COMMISSIONER of WORKS (Mr. Harcourt)

Buckingham Palace is not internally unsuitable for its purpose, but I should be glad if I had the opportunity and the money to reface it with stone on its eastern front in place of the present covering of stucco and paint.

Mr. JOYCE

Give old age pensions to the poor people instead of wasting money on palaces.
