§ Mr. JOHN WARDasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he has received the report of Mr. Squiers, C.E., who was appointed by his Department to assist the coroner at the inquest upon the men killed in the dock accident at Newport last year; whether he intends to publish such report; and what further action he proposes to take to prevent such accidents in the future?
§ Mr. CHURCHILLThe report was presented to Parliament and issued some months ago. I have no power at present to take any action on it. If the Building and Engineering Works Bill, which was introduced last Session by my predecessor, should pass it would give me jurisdiction in the works of this class.
