HC Deb 24 February 1910 vol 14 c348
Mr. WATT

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether his attention has been called to the extension of the practice among boards of directors of using proxies, obtained at the expense of the shareholders of companies, fox several purposes at the company meetings when they were procured for only one specific purpose; and whether he proposes to introduce legislation dealing with this state of things?

Mr. BUXTON

My attention has not been called to any such practice as is suggested by my hon. Friend's question, and I am advised that a proxy given for a special purpose cannot, without a, breach of the existing law, be used for other purposes.
