HC Deb 24 February 1910 vol 14 c349
Mr. MARTIN

asked if attention has been called to the recent intervention in Canadian politics by Lord Grey, the Governor-General, by urging the people in a public speech to support the naval policy of the Canadian Government, which is a matter of controversy between parties in the Dominion; if so, what course is it intended to pursue?

The MASTER of ELIBANK

I presume my hon. Friend refers to a speech delivered by the Governor-General at Calgary in last September. The Secretary of State is informed that the criticisms made on that speech were based on incorrect reports due to the fact that no shorthand writers were present. The Secretary of State sees no reason to take any action.
