HC Deb 23 February 1910 vol 14 cc208-9
Captain CRAIG

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland whether it is the intention of the Government to deal this Session with the problem of the heating and cleansing of national schools in Ireland?

The CHIEF SECRETARY for IRELAND (Mr. Birrell)

I regret that I am not in a position to make a definite pronouncement upon this subject. I fully recognise that the existing state of thing? in regard to the heating and cleansing of schools is far from satisfactory, and I am not without hope that it may be found possible, without undue delay, to arrive at a solution of the problem that will commend itself to all the parties concerned.

Captain CRAIG

If the Irish Unionist party introduce the Bill of last year will the right hon. Gentleman help it through the House?

Mr. BIRRELL

No; I think a better way can be found.
