HC Deb 21 April 1910 vol 16 c2313
Mr. JOHN O'DONNELL

asked the Postmaster-General whether he will consider the advisability of making the necessary arrangements for having a trunk line established by which Galway city may be put into telephonic communication with other parts of the country; and whether, seeing that such towns as Ennis have such accommodation, he will give similar commercial facilities to Galway, the chief town of the Western Province and containing 14,000 inhabitants?

Mr. HERBERT SAMUEL

The Trunk telephone system is now being extended under guarantee to Athlone, which is on the route to Galway. I have offered an extension of the system to Galway itself under the usual guarantee, but so far the offer has not been accepted.
