HC Deb 21 April 1910 vol 16 cc2306-7
Mr. O'SHAUGHNESSY

asked whether the Chief Secretary has received a copy of a resolution passed at a meeting of tenant purchasers on several estates in the neighbourhood of Charleville who entered into contracts with the landlords before 10th September, 1909, but which now cannot be carried out owing to the change in the annuity rate under the Irish Land Act, 1909 calling on the Government to pass into law a Bill to ratify the contracts thus entered into, and to enable them to purchase at the 3¼ per cent, annuity rate; and, if so, whether he proposes to take any action in the matter?

Mr. BIRRELL

I would refer the hon. Member to the reply which I have just given to a similar question asked by the hon. Member for North Cork.

Mr. MOORE

In view of the facts of this question, does the right hon. Gentleman consider that the Land Act of last year still facilitates land purchase?
