HC Deb 21 April 1910 vol 16 cc2308-9
Mr. REES

asked whether, during the recent Budget debate in the Governor-General of India's Council, the need for legislation to check the growth of fraudulent provident societies, calling them- selves insurance societies, was urged; and whether the Governor-General in Council has intimated to the Secretary of State his intention of complying with this request?

Mr. MONTAGU

The subject has been discussed in the Imperial Legislative Council and is engaging the attention of the Government of India, but no proposals have as yet been submitted to the Secretary of State.
