HC Deb 19 April 1910 vol 16 cc1861-2
Mr. NORTON-GRIFFITHS

asked the Secretary of State for War if he is aware that the Darlaston Company of the South Staffordshire Territorials have no drill hall or covered place of assembly; if there is any way of supporting or assisting in the supply of a suitable building out of the public funds; and whether arrangements can be made for the hall of the proposed labour exchange to be lent for the purpose?

The SECRETARY of STATE for WAR (Mr. Haldane)

The Darlaston Company of the 6th Battalion South Staffordshire Regiment has hitherto drilled in the town hall. Sanction for the hire of this hall, when required, was applied for by the Stafford Association and granted in November last. The Stafford Association has recently proposed to purchase a site at Darlaston and to build a drill hall thereon. This proposal is now under consideration, and further information has been asked for. The association will be asked to consider whether the suggestion contained in the latter portion of the question would be feasible.
