§ Mr. JOHN WARDasked the Home Secretary whether he has received any communication asking for some official recognition for the scientific work of Dr. Faulds, of Stoke-on-Trent, in originating the finger-print method of identification for the detection of crime; and, if so, what action, if any, he proposes to take in the matter?
§ Mr. CHURCHILLSeveral communications from Mr. Faulds have reached the Home Office; but I cannot find that he has any claim on the Department for recognition. So far as the Home Office is concerned, I am informed that the adoption of the finger-print system in 1894 was due entirely to the labours of Mr. (now Sir Francis) Galton.
