Captain COOPERasked whether ex-soldiers employed by Government Departments receive the ordinary rate of pay for their rank, or whether they are liable to deductions in respect of their Army pensions?
§ Mr. HOBHOUSEThe general practice is that ex-soldiers (not officers) employed 1877 in Government Departments receive full civil pay in addition to their Army pensions; but in certain classes of cases civil pay is specially fixed with reference to the fact that the recipient has a military pension.
