HC Deb 12 April 1910 vol 16 c1069
Mr. KEIR HARDIE

asked whether the award made by the Wages Board affecting the wages of chain-makers is to apply to chain factories in which machinery and electricity are employed in the processes of making and welding?

Mr. BUXTON

I am informed by the chairman of the Chain Trade Board that the rates proposed to be fixed by the Board are intended to apply to hand-hammered chain whether made in factory or workshop, and whether the blast is secured by mechanical means or otherwise. Hand-hammered chain does not include electrically welded chain.
