Mr. POWERasked the Chief Secretary if he would state how many evicted tenants have been restored to their old holdings in East Waterford; and how many have been provided with new holdings by the Estates Commissioners?
§ Mr. BIRRELLThe records of the Estates Commissioners are not kept by Parliamentary Divisions. The figures for the county of Waterford are as follows:—Forty-two evicted tenants have been reinstated in their former holdings or provided with other holdings by the Estates Commissioners, and thirty-one have been reinstated by landlords. In eighteen of these thirty-one cases the tenants were reinstated by the landlords at the instance of the Commissioners.
