HC Deb 11 April 1910 vol 16 cc880-1
Mr. CHARLES CRAIG (for Captain Craig)

asked the Chancellor of the Ex- chequer whether he is yet in a position to give the names of the Development Commissioners; and if, in considering the qualifications of the representatives from Ireland, account will be taken of their knowledge of agriculture and arterial drainage?

Mr. LONSDALE

also asked whether the right hon. Gentleman is in a position to announce the names of the Development Commissioners; and whether he will see that Ireland is represented on the Board by a member who is in sympathy with agricultural development and arterial drainage?

The CHANCELLOR of the EXCHEQUER (Mr. Lloyd-George)

I hope shortly to be able to announce the constitution of the Development Commission. I shall be glad to take into consideration the suggestion made by the hon. Members and also to consider any names which they may care to submit to me.

Mr. CHARLES BATHURST

Is the suggestion conveyed in the question that there may be more than one representative of Ireland well founded?

Mr. LLOYD-GEORGE

I think it is rather premature for me to give an answer upon that subject now.
