HC Deb 07 April 1910 vol 16 c579
Captain CRAIG

asked whether the governing body of University College, Dublin, had taken any, and, if any, what, steps or had come to any decision as to procuring any land or buildings in or near Dublin for the purpose of providing residence, lecture halls, and a common centre for students in University College, Dublin, or what provision was now made or proposed to be made for the above purpose?

Mr. REDMOND BARRY

The President of University College informs me that the question of a site for the future buildings of the college has engaged the attention of the governing body for a considerable time, and that the matter is at present under the consideration of a committee appointed for the purpose. For its present work the college has the use of part of the university buildings and of the laboratories and lecture rooms of the Medical School, Cecilia Street. A lease has been taken for a term of three years of the buildings 82 to 86, St. Stephen's Green, for the accommodation of the classes in the faculty of arts.

Captain CRAIG

Can the right hon. Gentleman give an answer in respect of the denominational school in Cecilia Street, Dublin?

Mr. REDMOND BARRY

It is a medical school. I do not think it is of any denomination.

Mr. MOORE

Is not the title "The Catholic School of Medicine, Cecilia Street?"

Mr. REDMOND BARRY

That may be.
