HC Deb 07 April 1910 vol 16 c605
Mr. BELLOC

asked what licensed premises in the Metropolis, if any, are permitted habitually to keep customers on premises licensed for the sale of intoxicating liquors after the hours provided by statute?

Mr. MASTERMAN

There are in force in the Metropolitan Police District eighty-two Orders made under Section 26 of the Licensing Act, 1872, exempting premises licensed for the sale of intoxicating liquors from the provisions of the Acts relating to closing. That Section enables such Orders to be granted when they are shown to be necessary or desirable for the accommodation of any considerable number of persons attending any public market or following any lawful trade or calling.

Mr. BELLOC

Can the hon. Gentleman tell me whether the Ritz, Carlton, and Savoy come under that schedule?

Mr. MASTERMAN

I think I would like notice of that.

Mr. BELLOC

You will get it.
