HC Deb 04 April 1910 vol 16 c13
Mr. PERKINS

asked the Postmaster-General whether he was aware that telephone exchanges had been promised by his Department, since June, 1908, at both Lyndhurst and at Brockenhurst, Hants; what was the reason for the delay in these installations; and when did his Department propose to complete them?

Mr. HERBERT SAMUEL

The Department is anxious not to interfere with the amenities of the New Forest, and the delay has been caused by the extreme difficulty of arranging telephone lines in such a way as to avoid this. My officers are in communication with the officers of the Woods and Forests, and every effort shall be made to reach a satisfactory settlement.
