HC Deb 04 April 1910 vol 16 cc30-1
Major ARCHER-SHEE

asked whether, in view of the Imperial trade interests involved, it is intended to substitute modern and powerful cruisers for the present inadequate representation of the British Navy on the Pacific Coast of North, South, and Central America, now consisting of the two 1,000-ton sloops "Algerine" and "Shearwater" only?

Mr. McKENNA

In arranging the disposition of His Majesty's ships due consideration is given to the protection of trade interests, and it is not proposed to make any change at present in this part of the world.
