HC Deb 04 April 1910 vol 16 cc2-3
Mr. MACMASTER

asked the Under Secretary of State for the Colonies if he would state which of the Governments repre- sented at the Colonial Conference of 1907 had not replied to the request of the inter-Departmental Committee on the Naturalisation Laws; and whether, seeing the importance of the question, he could do anything to expedite the assembly of the subsidiary conference contemplated in the resolution of the Conference of 1907?

The UNDER-SECRETARY for the COLONIES (Colonel Seely)

The Governments which have not replied on the question are those of Canada and New Zealand, and the Secretary of State is about to communicate with them further on the subject. The replies from the South African Colonies indicated that so far as South Africa was concerned the question must be left open for the consideration of the Union Government and Parliament.
