HC Deb 11 May 1899 vol 71 c340
MR. J. F. X. O'BRIEN (Cork)

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury, as representing the Postmaster-General, in reference to his statement of July 1898, that the question of increasing the established staff of telegraphists at Cork is under consideration, whether that revision is yet completed; and, if so, when it may be expected to be brought into force; and whether, considering the long delay in formulating the scheme, the Postmaster-General can see his way to make it retrospective.

MR. ANSTRUTHER (for Mr. HANBURY)

The proposals for a revision of the indoor force at Cork, Postal and Telegraph, are now awaiting Treasury sanction, on receipt of which they will at once be carried into effect. There are no special circumstances in the case which would justify the Postmaster-General in recommending that the scheme should be made retrospective.
