HC Deb 08 May 1899 vol 71 c43
MR. J. M. MACLEAN (Cardiff)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for India when the Indian Sugar Duty Papers, which were stated a month ago to be in the printer's hands, will be distributed among Members.

LORD G. HAMILTON

I am informed that copies will reach the House this evening.

MR. J. M. MACLEAN

Is the noble Lord in a position to redeem the promise made before Easter that we shall have a day for the discussion of the Papers?

LORD G. HAMILTON

I made no promise.

MR. J. M. MACLEAN

The First Lord of the Treasury did.

LORD G. HAMILTON

What I told my honourable friend was that he had better ask the First Lord of the Treasury. I can assure my honourable friend that I should be delighted to discuss the question.

MR. J. M. MACLEAN

Will the noble Lord communicate with the First Lord? He has much more influence with him than I have.
