HC Deb 27 March 1899 vol 69 c512
MR. DILLON

I beg to ask the Attorney-General for Ireland whether in Charlestown, county Mayo, Mr. Bernard Moffitt has been appointed presiding officer for the Local Government election to be held on the 4th April; whether Mr. Moffitt is local rate collector and a prominent supporter of one of the candidates; and, whether he will draw the attention of the returning officer to these facts, and suggest to him the desirability of making another appointment?

MR. ATKINSON

I have been unable to ascertain in the short interval since notice of this Question was received by me, whether the facts are as stated by the honourable Member. I have, however, directed that a copy of the Question shall be at once communicated to the returning officer for his consideration.
