HC Deb 23 March 1899 vol 69 c133
MR. BILL (Stafford, Leek)

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether the communication addressed to the French Government on 14th July, 1898, on the subject of Waima, to which no reply has been received, or any previous communication, contained any demand for a pecuniary indemnity; and, if, so, what was the amount asked for?

MR BRODRICK

The communication in question alluded to the fact of pecuniary indemnity being claimed, but no fixed amount was asked for.
