HC Deb 21 March 1899 vol 68 c1560
MR. LLOYD MORGAN (Carmarthen, W.)

I beg to ask the President of the Local Government Board whether he can state the amount of money borrowed by county councils up to the end of 1898 from the Public Works Loan Commissioners for the purpose of advancing money under the provisions of the Small Holdings Act, 1892; and whether there are any cases of county councils having borrowed money for the purpose from any source other than from the Public Works Loan Commissioners?

THE PRESIDENT OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT BOARD

County councils in England and Wales have been authorised to borrow up to the end of 1898, the amount being £9,150. and I understand the whole of this has been obtained from the Public Works Loan Commissioners.
