HC Deb 17 March 1899 vol 68 c1155
MR. BRYNMOR JONES (Swansea District)

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether the legal aspects of the Waima incident are still under the consideration of the Foreign Office; and whether he is now in a position to give his conclusion on the matter; and, if not, when does he expect to be able to give his conclusion on the legal questions involved?

MR. BRODRICK

The legal questions involved are now before the Law Officers of the Crown. The delay in settlement is, as I have explained, not due to any want of insistence on the part of this country.
