HC Deb 16 March 1899 vol 68 c973
MR. O'KEEFFE (Limerick)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland if he will bring before the Board of Works the desirability of making the subsidised steamers on the River Shannon run from Foynes in connection with the train from Limerick, via Tarbert, to Kilrush, and vice versa, in order to develop the tourist traffic to Kilkee and the West coast of Ireland?

MR. GERALD BALFOUR

The proposal contained in the Question has already engaged attention. The Board of Works have been in communication with the Waterford and Limerick Railway Company and the West Clare Railway Company on the subject, and if effect is given to the recommendations made to these companies the extended service will come into operation this summer.
