HC Deb 16 March 1899 vol 68 c979
MR.WEIR (Ross and Cromarty)

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Admiralty, having regard to the fact that under the expenses of the Royal Naval Reserves in this year's Estimates an increase of £8,300 is set down for pay for men embarked for a period of six months' training on board Her Majesty's ships, will he state whether any of the Stomoway Naval Reserve men will participate in this training?

MR. MACARTNEY

The Stornoway men have participated to a larger extent than any other district in the past, 219 having been embarked for six months' training during the year 1898, and there is no intention to prevent them from continuing to volunteer for this service.
