§ MR. DILLONI beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether, in view of the fact that the South and Middle Islands of Arran are several miles from Kilronan on the North Island, and the people living on those two islands have no means of transit except by small canoes to Kil- 978 ronan to record their votes at the Local Government elections, and that the passage is dangerous except in fine weather, he will ask the Local Government Board to allow a polling station in a large school house on the Middle Island, or convey the voters free by the s.s. "Duras," a subsidised steamer running to and from Galway?
§ MR. GERALD BALFOURThe Returning Officer has not yet made his final arrangements as to the polling stations, and I am not, therefore, in a position to state where the polling for the Arran Islands will take place. The Returning Officer has full discretion as to the number and location of the polling stations in each district electoral division, and I will cause the suggestion contained in the honourable Member's Question to be transmitted to him for consideration.
