HOGANI beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he has any information to impart in reference to the reported acquisition of the Caroline Islands by Germany by purchase from Spain; and whether the interests of Australia and New Zealand, as affected by the extension and consolidation of German power in the Pacific, are receiving the attention they deserve at the hands of Her Majesty's Government?
§ MR. BRODRICKHer Majesty's Government are not in possession of any information on the subject referred to in the first paragraph. The interests of Australia and New Zealand in the Pacific will receive due attention at the hands of Her Majesty's Government.
