HC Deb 16 March 1899 vol 68 c988
COMMANDER BETHELL (York, E. R., Holderness)

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Admiralty if he can give the House any particulars of the accident on board the "Terrible."

MR. MACARTNEY

The letter received from the captain of the "Terrible" reports the death of Edward Sullivan, stoker, which occurred at 6.43 p.m. on the 13th instant from injuries received in the stokehold, due to the bursting of one of the boiler tubes. Three other men were injured, but are progressing favourably. The accident occurred at about 11 a.m. The cause of the accident will be made the subject of an official inquiry.

MR. ALLAN

Arising out of this answer, may I ask whether it is not advisable to reconsider the making of these boilers for Her Majesty's yacht?
