I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for War whether, in view of the fact that the present occupant will, on the 22nd of December next, have acted in the capacity of Staff Paymaster in the Quartermaster General's branch of the War Office for six years and four months (such appointments being usually for five years only), he will take steps to ensure the appointment as from the 22nd of December next of an officer with recent experience of the Pay Department work outside the War Office.
