HC Deb 29 June 1899 vol 73 cc1000-1
MR. KIMBER (Wandsworth)

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury if the Government intend to proceed with the motion on Municipal Trading.

MR. A. J. BALFOUR

I understand that the motion for the appointment of a Joint Committee with the Lords to consider this subject will involve a considerable amount of discussion. I confess I do not see where the time for that discussion is to be obtained, and I fear also that the time is elapsing in which any useful investigation in the present session can take place. If these conditions remain unaltered, I fear there is little chance of this Committee being appointed in the course of this session.
