HC Deb 23 June 1899 vol 73 c456
SIR JOHN LENG

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury when the next stage of the Private Legislature Procedure (Scotland) Bill will be taken; and if time will be allowed to the corporations of cities and burghs in Scotland to consider its proposal to place them under the English Municipal Corporations (Borough Funds) Act, 35 and 36 Vic., c. 91.

MR. A. J. BALFOUR

With regard to the first paragraph of the question I am unable to say when we shall be able to take the next stage of the Bill. With regard to the second paragraph, I think the hon. Member for Dundee must be under some misapprehension, for there is no intention, so far as I am aware, to extend the Municipal Corporations Act, which applies to England, to Scottish municipalities.
