HC Deb 22 June 1899 vol 73 cc271-2
MR. DILLON (Mayo, E.)

I beg to ask Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will give a return stating the names of the colonies, &c., to which the Colonial Loans Fund Bill would apply, the revenue of each of these colonies, the different heads under which revenue is raised, and particulars of present debts of each colony, &c., showing amount of interest, nature of sinking fund, &c.

THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER (Sir M. HICKS BEACH,) Bristol, W.

A return such as is asked for will be given in respect of the colonies to which it is proposed to apply the Act this year.

MR. DILLON

I beg to ask Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he can give a list of the loans which it is proposed to make this year in pursuance of the Colonial Loans Fund Bill. In putting this I would further ask the right hon. Gentleman if he does not think it would be fair to the House to give us this information before we finally pass the Colonial Loans Fund Bill.

SIR M. HICKS BEACH

I do not think that has anything to do with it. A list of the loans which it is proposed to make this year will be contained in the schedule to a Bill which the Government proposes to introduce as soon as the Colonial Loans Fund Bill is passed.
