HC Deb 16 June 1899 vol 72 cc1343-4
MR. FLAVIN (Kerry, N.)

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury, as representing the Postmaster - General, whether he is aware that the United Kingdom is the only place in which postcards cost more than the stamp they bear; and whether at an early date the original practice of selling postcards at their face value will be put into effect.

MR. HANBURY

The United Kingdom is not the only place in which postcards cost more than the stamp they bear. There are a few other countries in which that is the case. I cannot hold out any hope that it will be possible to make any change in the price of inland postcards in this country.
