HC Deb 13 June 1899 vol 72 cc1063-4
CAPTAIN SINCLAIR (Forfar)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he can give to the House any information as to the results arrived at by the Brussels Conference on the West African Liquor Traffic; and when it is intended that the relative papers shall be laid before Parliament.

MR. J. CHAMBERLAIN

A Convention was signed on the 8th June, and it will be communicated to the House as soon as possible. The papers relating to the matter will be laid before Parliament at an early date. I may add, in the meantime, that it involves a considerable, increase of the duty on imported spirits.
