HC Deb 13 June 1899 vol 72 c1075
MR. CHILLY

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland if he has received a resolution from the Belmullet Rural District Council protesting against the extra police force now stationed at Elly Bay Coastguard Station, Belmullet, and calling for their removal; and whether this request can be complied with; and, if not, can the reasons be stated why this extra police was established at Elly Bay.

MR. G. W. BALFOUR

The resolution referred to in the first paragraph has been received. The Council have been informed that it is not proposed, at present, to withdraw the force stationed at this place. The police there form portion of the ordinary police establishment of the county, and no expense is entailed to the district by their employment.
