HC Deb 12 June 1899 vol 72 c906
MR. PATRICK O'BRIEN

On behalf of the hon. Member for Dublin (St. Patrick's) I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether his attention has been drawn to a meeting of the blind recently held in Dublin; and whether the Government intend to introduce a measure to provide State aid for the blind in Great Britain and Ireland similar to that provided by Continental Governments.

SIR M. WHITE RIDLEY

By the courtesy of the hon. Member I have seen a report of the recent meeting in Dublin of the National League of the Blind. The matter is not one which concerns specially my Department, and I am afraid I can only say that I am not aware that there is on the part of the Government any intention to introduce a measure such as that indicated.
