I beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade what has been the number of railway servants killed by accidents in which the movement of vehicles used exclusively on railways was concerned in the year 1898; and, what has been the number of such fatal accidents investigated in 1898 by inspectors or sub-inspectors of the Board of Trade.

The number of railway servants killed in 1898 was 490. The number of fatal accidents inquired into was 116.
