§ LORD G. HAMILTONOver the greater part of Bengal the land revenue is permanently settled, and the revenue establishments in the interior are slender. Consequently, full and accurate agricultural statistics are not, and never have been, available for the province. Where the cadastral survey has been carried out, information is being collected. On the page mentioned in the Parliamentary Paper, the only figures absolutely wanting are those relating to live stock and to the irrigated area. Under all other heads approximate figures for Bengal, based on the best available information, are given.
