HC Deb 10 July 1899 vol 74 c318
MR. DAVITT

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether he can see his way to recommend to Her Majesty's Government the disarmament of the Royal Irish Con stabulary and the reorganisation of the force on similar lines to the English and Scotch police.

MR. G. W. BALFOUR

I am afraid I cannot see my way to doing that.

MR. DILLON

Has the right hon. Gentleman's attention been drawn to the fact that in consequence of a remonstrance from the Home Government the police of Johannesburg have been disarmed?

MR. SPEAKER

Order, order!
