I beg to ask the Lord Advocate whether the Presbyterian clergy in Scotland are relieved front the payment of poor rates and other burdens on their manses and other ecclesiastical buildings.

Ministers of the Church of Scotland are not liable to poor rate in respect of their manses. I may point out that, as churches do not belong to the ministers, there are no ecclesiastical buildings in the sense of the question other than manses.
