§ MR. WEIRI beg to ask the Lord Advocate if he will state the names of the persons constituting the Commission appointed about two years ago to inquire into alleged sheep stealing in the Highlands, and will he say the number of meetings held; and, have the Commissioners yet made a report; and, if so, will it be issued to Members of this House?
MR. GRAHAM MURRAYThe names of the Committee referred to by the honourable Member are Mr. Robertson, Chairman, Sir Jacob Wilson, and Mr. Alexander McHardy. The Committee submitted their report some time ago, but the Secretary for Scotland does not propose to present it to Parliament, as he considers that no useful purpose would be served by its circulation in that manner, and possibly the information contained in it might enable dishonest persons to evade detection with greater ease than is now the case.
