FAITHFULL BEGGI beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade whether he will state what steps are taken by the Registrar of Joint Stock Companies, when the annual list of persons who are members of a company is lodged with him, as required by the Act of 1862, to see that the provisions of the Act with respect to the previous 791 holding of a general meeting of shareholders have been complied with?
§ THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF TRADEThe responsibility as to the truth of the statements contained in the return rests with the company, and it does not devolve upon the Registrar to see that the general meeting has been held when the annual return is filed.
